Cedar, the southern division’s top seed, had defeated Mountain Crest 13-6 the previous evening to advance to the title game. It marked the second straight year Cedar had defeated division rival Southern Utah in the state title game.Zeb Parkinson, Cedar’s center, was named co-MVP on the 4A all-state team, sharing MVP honors with Cottonwood’s Chandler Copyak. Also receiving all-state honors for the Redmen were Michael Nelson, Parker Allen and Alan Moses.Cedar head coach Alex Parkinson was named the 4A coach of the year. Jeff Richards, a native of Salt Lake City with family roots in Panguitch, lived in Moab for 20 years before joining St. He covered news, features, and sports as a part-time reporter for the Times-Independent, Moab's weekly community newspaper, and has contributed stories and photos to various other media outlets. He also taught high school English, journalism, and computer classes for 12 years, and was the school's yearbook and student newspaper adviser. He and his wife Penny are the parents of five daughters, and also have two young grandsons. Jeff and his family enjoy swimming, camping, sightseeing, reading, and taking pictures.

Located in Allentown, Pa., the all-women's college is home to the Rodale Aquatic Center, which features an eight-lane, 25- yard competition pool and a complimenting therapeutic pool that also serves as a warm-up area.
